Broken

A bloom snapped from the vine by heartless hand,
Cut, ruined, falls to ground and bleeds.

A spirit shattered young by brutal deed,
Drips from wound to pool at writhing feet.

A heart sliced cruelly out by tyrant’s hate,
Beats its last ‘fore love was ever made.

A life shorn and clutched in calloused fingers,
Falls to sand, a mutilated memory.

A woman spent for nothing rendered dead,
Cut, ruined, falls to ground and bleeds.

Please be aware of the intolerable problem of female genital mutilation.
